Biography
I am a 51-year-old high school teacher who lives Shediac, New Brunswick. I grew up on the Miramichi River and have lived in Shediac for the past twenty years. I have always loved reading and writing and first aspired to become a writer of fiction when my grade 4 teacher, Gary Hanscomb, told me that he felt confident that I would "be good at it". Ironically, I chose his career path and got busy teaching and parenting. During the first months of the pandemic, with gifted time, I started writing and have been preoccupied since. I received an honorable mention for the David Adams Richards Prize for Fiction in 2021 for "How's She Goin'?"; first prize for the same award in 2022 for "Her Wilco Years”, and the Jane Leblanc Prize for Storytelling for “Traditions” in 2022.
