Memberships: Publications: Although Neil has been paying his WFNB dues since 1993, only recently has his name made it onto the WFNB Membership List. Though eight previous Directors have sworn that this was due to ‘unintentional administrative oversights’, the current President has said that it’s high time things were set straight. (Amazing what a little binding arbitration can accomplish! Thanks, Lee. *Ed Note: No problemo, Niles) In what can only be described as a gesture of true benevolence, Neil has promised to forgo any legal actions against the Federation if all of the contest winners over the last eighteen years would agree to return their prize money. (Due to our declining disenrolment, Neil wants them to keep their interest.) Once all of the cash is in, updated contest rules will be announced. The cut-off* for submissions will be November 16th, which just happens to coincide with the offended party’s date of birth! (*ED note: we tried to cut Niles off sometime ago, but...) Though he has effectively been written off from two decades of an all-but-assured income stream, after all of his gifts have been opened, Neil will (in lieu of sending individual ‘Thank You’ notes) be making his presents known. Brent Sherrard was born in the Miramichi region of New Brunswick, and has lived the majority of his life there. Having travelled about for a few years, working at a variety of jobs, he returned to the majestic natural beauty of the local woods and water-ways, where he finds peace and inspiration for life, as well as writing. an avid reader from a very young age, he harboured a desire to write from childhood, finally turning his dream to reality at age 49. Brent is married to popular young adult author valerie sherrard, and they share their home with four wonderful cats. Memberships: Valerie (Russell) Sherrard was born on May 16, 1957 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Valerie’s father was in the Air Force and so the family moved about a good deal. Although nearly three decades would pass before she began to pursue writing seriously, Valerie never forgot his words. Valerie has made her home in NB since 1980. Over the years she fostered approximately 70 adolescents for various lengths of time and also worked as the Executive Director of a group home for teens for eleven years. It was these experiences that prompted Valerie to write for children and teens. Valerie’s husband, Brent, is also a writer (and a carpenter). The couple lives in a converted funeral home with their cats Lilly, Thragg, Tootie and Cody.
